Disclosing to CNN, Alex Azar, Health and Human Services Secretary warned that the ‘Window is closing’ for United States to get the COVID-19 pandemic under control and the number of positive coronavirus cases is constantly increasing with thirty-six states reporting a continuous increase in the number of hospitalizations but just 2 States claiming a decline. He pointed towards the better financial position of the US indicating to increase the count of testing, hospital capacity, and reserves of protective equipment.
On Friday 26th, the highest number of positive coronavirus cases was reported in the US with 40,173 in number, breaking the record of Thursday 25th. His message primarily focused on practicing social distance and self-isolation. Azar’s message to the public differed from what President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence had addressed.
Vice President Mike addressed the press on Friday, declaring that the increase in the number of cases is tied to more testing, largely similar to what the President said. He declared that many young people in Georgia with no significant symptoms have tested positive for coronavirus, blaming testing for the increase.
While on another hand Top Health’s message primarily focused on advising the public to show responsible behavior towards the current situation. He blamed the imprudent and irresponsible behavior of people for making the situation more critical, directly denying the reopening of localities is responsible for the increase in the number of cases.
Addressing CNN he said: “Things are very different from two months ago… So it is a very different situation, but this is a very, very serious situation and the window is closing for us to take action and get this under control”.
Senior Healthcare Experts like Dr. Tom Freden has strongly condemned the President’s words and pointed out that it’s not the increase of testing responsible for a rise in cases. But these are real cases, indicating the upper hand of COVID-19 in the US.
